Osvaldo “Ozzie” Laso

About Ozzie

He was fifteen when he chose his father’s coffin. He was sixty-four when he finished the book about what came after.

Osvaldo “Ozzie” Laso is a vice president of construction in Miami. He got there the long way: two marriages that ended, a business that collapsed in 2007, nights in his car, a hotel room and Goodwill work clothes, and then a chance to stand on a job site and write down who showed up. A contractor taught him to read plans. Nineteen years later he oversees construction from the owner’s side on communities of hundreds of homes, and he has learned the one rule that never failed him on a site or in a life: nobody builds the tenth floor first.

Keep Climbing Now is that rule applied to a life, written the way he talks: to you, directly, like a friend who has already made the mistakes. Thirty-nine short chapters, each ending on the ground with something to do about it. He began it at sixty-four by writing down a hundred thoughts about his own life and finished it the same year, still living the work it describes. The Climb Workbook, its working partner, followed.

He wrote it for his son and his grandson, and for any man standing at a gate at six in the morning looking at dirt. Faith, family, and golf are part of the life behind the pages.
